Pre Production
I was recently asked to Direct a small documentry for B.E.T’s 106 & park co host Dj Prostyle. The documentry was to cover “A Day in the life” of Dj Prostyle along with his big celebrity birthday bash. We had less than a week to prepare.
Production
I have to say this was one of the longest shoots I have had yet. My crew and I shot from 7am to about 3am . Using Panasonic’s HVX 200 we hired on 4 different camera operators covering the entire event from beginning to end. The day went smooth for the most part, one of the highlights was the police escort to pick Daddy Yankee up from the airport. I would have to say the most challenging part of the shoot had to be the night club. There were over 2,000 people packed into this club to see the special guest of the night, FAT JOE, RICK ROSS, WAYNE WONDER & DADDY YANKEE. The crowd was insane!!!! I had to constantly Run back and forth to swap out batteries for my dying cameras, we were limited on our audio gear so we had to constantly swap out the microphones on the talent we were interviewing. Aww man it was insane!!!
POST PRODUCTION DRAMA!!!
While going into post production we ran into a few problems such as; hard drives crashing, footage loss, basically everything that could go wrong did go wrong. The lesson I learned from this experience is to ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR FOOTAGE!!!!!
But At the end of the day we as a team came through victorious with a killer project! You can check it out along with the small teaser trailer below.
p.s I know we spelled “comming” wrong in the teaser its supposed to be spelled “coming” but thanks. That’s why its always good to check your spelling!!!!
